地域PBL(Project Based Learning)型演習クラスの展開
名城大学は2015年、名古屋市東区と連携・協力に関する協定を結びました。2016年4月に開設した外国語学部では、周辺商業施設や地域コミュニティなどを一つの学びの場と位置付けた研究・教育活動に積極的に取り組んでいます。ナゴヤドーム前キャンパスが位置する東区には、名古屋城から徳川園に至る「文化のみち」と呼ばれるエリアがあり、名古屋の近代化を伝える歴史的・文化的に由緒ある建造物が集積しています。東区では、この歴史的・文化的に価値ある「文化のみち」を多くの人が訪れる魅力ある場所として保全活動に携わっています。そこで、外国語学部の４つの基礎演習クラスは、「学生から見た外国人に伝えたい地域の魅力」をテーマとして掘り下げ、「文化のみち」エリアを外国人に対して情報発信していくといった地域プロジェクト型学習（PBL）に取り組みます。
実際に現地に足を運び、地域の魅力を発見し、得られた成果を対外的に英語で情報発信していきます。オリンピックの開催に合わせて増加が見込める訪日外国人に対して、東区の歴史・文化遺産について、自分たちがリサーチした内容に基づいて、テーマ別の情報を日本語と英語で発信していきます。
The Meijo University signed a partnership agreement with Higashi Ward of Nagoya City in 2015, where the new campus near Nagoya Stadium is located. Under the agreement, the Faculty of Foreign Studies of Meijo University, which was established as the ninth faculty of Meijo University in 2015, has engaged in various local activities in collaboration with the nearby commercial facilities and local communities. As part of the collaboration, four foundation seminars in the Faculty of Foreign Studies had jointly worked with Higashi Ward to offer a project-based learning (PBL) opportunity to about fifty first-year students since the academic year of 2016.
The staff members of Nagoya city, who are in charge of managing the Cultural Path, town-landscape preservation area, assign students to make a plan for promoting the area to foreign visitors. The students participate in a one-day field, which is planned and guided by the Higashi Ward Guide Volunteer organization. They give a team presentation on what they have learned from the field work and make a proposal about their promotion idea.
